Rise & Shine Day Program
It’s time to
Rise & Shine!
An Adult Day Program focused on helping students develop independence through life-skills activities while encouraging creativity and their unique abilities.
We offer both full and part-time positions and accept private pay and CDC+.
Hours of Operation
Monday - Friday
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Located in the Shine Annex building of Mission Road Church
4070 Mission Road, Tallahassee, Fl
All of the students enjoy being outside under the covered patio area during pleasant weather. Most like hanging out with friends while others play basketball or sing and dance.
Staff member Laina leads a group math activity involving sorting and counting. Small group works allows students to encourage each other to succeed.
Independent work is encouraged for all students but staff and friends are always nearby to help if someone gets stuck.
Our students volunteered to stuff candy into Easter eggs for Thomasville Road Baptist Church. Community involvement is important to everyone at R&S!
Farah, a staff member, helps a student complete a literacy assignment. Everyone loves reading novels, writing poems and watching educational videos.
Our resident creative instructor George encourages the students to use their imaginations to write a poem about a far away planet.
Community Involvement
FSU student Zack visited weekly to lead students in building Lego sets. The Lego Club, sponsored by Special Olympics, encourages students to pay attention to different emotions and feelings.
Twice a month, our friend Abby with Future Pathways presents a life-skills lesson. Topics include how sick do you need to be to call a doctor, when do I ask for help with medication and summer safety.
Graduate students in the Occupational Therapy program at Florida A&M University visited our program each Monday for a semester. These “Rattlers” worked with our students on emotions and life skills.
